What to Wear in Egypt

If you’re planning a trip to Egypt, it’s probably crossed your mind that you’re going to need something to wear! But if you’ve never visited before, it can be hard to decide what to pack for Egypt’s hot and dry weather, the desert environments and culturally sensitive towns and cities. 

In this guide, I’ll share with you exactly what I packed for my trip to Egypt to help you work out what to take and give you some Egypt outfit inspiration too. So grab your suitcase – let’s get packing!

Sun Hat

Given Egypt’s hot and dry climate, and the strength of the sun, you will absolutely need a sun hat to shield your eyes and protect the top of your head from harmful rays. However, a sun hat also serves as a fashion statement in photos of this highly photogenic destination. Whether you opt for a classic straw hat or a trendy wide-brimmed floppy one, your hat has got you covered for both protection and style.

Long Dress

When it comes to ladies packing for Egypt, long and floaty dresses are an absolute must-have. Not only do they protect your modesty in this conservative country, but their lightweight and breathable fabric allows you to stay cool while exploring ancient ruins or strolling along the bustling streets of Cairo.

Though it’s not expected for tourists to wear headscarves when visiting mosques or religious sites that are no longer used for worship, wearing one is a sign of respect and can make for some beautiful pictures too.
